Learn to Write a Book Review

Every Thursday after 10 pm, I sit with my children. We read a small part of Zubdatul Fiqh by Maulana Syed Zawar Hussain Shah, and I explain it in simple words. They always have questions—some I can answer easily, and some make me think hard. That made me realise they need a simple way to review books. This will help them read, talk about what they read, and grow their thinking skills.

What Is a Book Review?

A book review is just your own short talk or note about a book. You say:

  1. Book Name & Author

  2. What It’s About (in one sentence)

  3. What You Liked or Didn’t Like

  4. Who Might Enjoy It

Why It Helps

  • Helps Friends Choose good books.

  • Makes You Think more about what you read.

  • Builds Confidence in talking and writing.

Easy Steps to Write One

Name & Author

      • “I read Zubdatul Fiqh by Maulana Syed Zawar Hussain Shah.”

One-Sentence Summary

      • “It explains the seven levels of Hell.”

OLikes & Wishes

      • “I liked the clear list of levels. I wished each level had a small story.”

Who Will Like It

      • “Kids who want to learn about fiqh will enjoy this book.”

Simple Example: “Seven Tabaqat of Dozakh”

  • Book: Zubdatul Fiqh by Maulana Syed Zawar Hussain Shah

  • About: Seven levels of Hell and who goes to each level.

  • I Liked: The short, clear names for each level.

  • I Wished: More simple stories to explain each level.

  • Good For: Young readers curious about Islamic law.

Try This at Home

  1. Read Together. Pick a small chapter or story.
  2. Talk About It. Let children ask questions.
  3. Write a Review. Use the four steps above.
  4. Share. Stick it on the fridge or read it at your next muzakira.
